Everytime I listen to or read her, I'm reminded of that quote from the film 1776, with Jefferson explaining why there was a need for a Declaration of Independence: To place before mankind the common sense of the subject, in terms so plain and firm as to command their assent.
It's a shame that we still have to explain the idea of a social compact. But we do, and I'm glad she's so good at it.
