Your point is very well made. With regards to the chickenhawk Adam Putnam, his Democratic opponent, Doug Tudor, is a retired Navy Master Chief and OIF/OEF veteran. Mr. Tudor is yet another fighting Dem, who will vote to end America's military involvement in Iraq.
For information, please go to www.teamtudor.org. Doug is a grass-roots candidate who could use your financial support as well.
You forgot Al Gore, Prominent Democrat blow-hard, whose Daddy got him a gig taking photos in 'Nam. Yeah, his Senator Daddy, as in the song "Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord, It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son. It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no, ..."
p.s. what branch of the military did Hitlery and Obama serve in?
Rudderboy: Try to remember that the closest Favorite Son George Walker Bush got to Vietnam was Mobile Bay, Alabama - after his Dad got him one of those plum stateside Air National Guard jobs. Even then he was a selfish little cur and his Dad had to wipe his files to cover his drunken AWOL record, and keep him from immediate assignment to Vietnam.
Thanks for playing.
And VP Dick Cheney, architect of the Iraqi quagmire? He got five (5) draft deferments to avoid Vietnam, "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service" he said.
Yet he says he supported the Vietnam War! How special, and noble. We can officially crown Richard Cheney Commander in Chief of the Chickenhawks A charter member.
Let's hear about 6th District politicians, over perhaps Harrisonburg-Rockingham office holders, or wannabes:
Bob Goodlatte (R): UNKNOWN
Sam Rasoul (D): UNKNOWN
Mark Obenshain (R): YEAH, RIGHT
Matt Lohr (R): YEAH, RIGHT
Chris Saxman (R): NONE
Steve Landes: (R) UNKNOWN
Emmett Hanger (R): UNKNOWN
Todd Gilbert (R): UNKNOWN
Rodney Eagle (I): MARINES
George Pace (R): UNKNOWN
Charles Chenault (R): UNKNOWN
Carolyn Frank (I): NONE
Ted Byrd (R): YEAH, RIGHT
Pablo Cuevas (R): NONE
Fred Eberly (R): UNKNOWN
Dee Floyd (R): UNKNOWN
Bill Kyger (R): UNKNOWN
Mike Breeden (D): UNKNOWN
How about:
Lowell Fulk (D)
Dave Briggman (L)
Myron Rhodes (R)
Joe Fitzgerald (D)
Amazing how many chickenhawks there are. Most Republican. Some updates:
Saxman: YEAH, RIGHT. The ultimate chickenhawk; but, see Hanger below.
Landes: Don't think so unless blindly manning the trenches for Wilkins and (later) Howell counts.
Gilbert: Gimme a break. A wuss.
Hanger: Doubt it unless you count his ongoing battle with Saxman for the soul of Valley GOP
Kyger: Nope, unless you count the Forest Service.
Briggman: Well maybe; seems like he's at war with the world
Rhodes: Does domestic discord count?
Rodney Eagle was to my knowledge a Marine.
Emmett Hanger was active National Guard. I don't know what may have been his credentials before that time. I do know that my cousin who served with Senator Hanger in this capacity, and admired and respected him, served in Viet Nam. My Father's Brother served with General Patton in Northern Africa and during the Battle of the Bulge.
I did not give of myself as did these excellent Men. I will offer no excuses. These fine individuals have my appreciation, admiration, and respect for having given what few would ever consider.
Thank you to Each and Every One....
With respect to 6th district candidates who have served in the military, please be advised that Gene Hart, democratic candidate for the 26th District House of Delegates, served 5 years in the Army before attending law school. Moreover, while in law school he volunteered to serve in operation Desert Storm and returned to active duty. After serving in Desert Storm he returned to UVA and finished law school. That, my friends, is patriotism. But those of us who know Gene are not surprised by his patriotism and love of country.
Bubby The Idiot, I don't expect rocket science from you, but before you cast stones, check your boy Obama and his side-kick Biden (5 deferrals). Together they have as many deferrals and less service than GWB ANNND Cheney.
Hey hard right rubber boy! Your argument is SO lame.
Rudderboy: The Draft was ended in 1973, when Barack Obama was 13 years old. Try to pay attention.
