News -Vs- News, or, It's all about Distraction

The Daily News Record reported on two stories (among many) that found different emphasis and treatment by the paper.

One was FEATURED on the top front page,

while the other received a far less prominent placement and headline.

Note: The second page DNR story was from the Washington Post and not included on the DNR website.

What is your opinion of the DNR’s sense of priority?

Which story covers the more important issue as far as you are concerned?

Or

Let us know what you think with a comment!

Both about the same.
I don't care either way.

I think that in this case local media was serving its purpose by drawing local attention to something that was happening locally that would probably not be reported on by another, larger paper.

The Daily News-Record is a business and as such should at least attempt to maximize profits which it will likely do by running local stories before more relevant national ones. At the same time it is nothing more than a right-wing rag with poor editors and lazy reporters.
