U know who said...

Lowell, if all this that you posted is true, then why is your presidential choice ignoring them for a trip to Chicago?

I'm sure there are Vets in Chicago. I remember spending a few months in Navy boot camp. Classy response to someone saying "thank you" to Vets & pointing out the meaning of the day. Keep up the great work Lowell!

@ You Know

GET A GRIP! Focus on the day.

And KNOW....

Reagan: In 1983 (May 30) he had Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Thayer represent him at Arlington Cemetery for the wreath ceremony. Reagan was at an economic summit that day.

George H.W. Bush: In 1992 Dan Quayle was at Arlington for the wreath laying ceremony representing the President. Meanwhile, Bush was speaking to American Legion members in
Kennebunkport, Maine and playing golf.

Is there some law or rule that says that the sitting President HAS to pay respects ONLY at Arlington? Aren't there many dead heroes who deserve respect buried all over this country, including the Chicago Cemetery that Obama will visit? Sounds pretty arrogant and disrespectful of the whinny right wingers to me.

Sadly, America has had enough wars in it's short lifespan to be able to give an historical perspective to it's military heroes and victims.

The veteran's of the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, WWI & WWII were true heroes. They fought aggressors against impossible odds, and in the case of the World Wars, literally saved the world.

Then there are the military victims. Those veterans who died in vain due to stupid politics and/or corporate greed.

In america's history, this started with the foolish politics of the Civil War, continued through the Spanish-American War, Korean & Vietnam Wars, and culminated in the military-for-hire Bush/Cheney/Bush/Big Oil Wars of the middle East.
