McDonnell Dropped Ball on VITA

If Bob couldn't do his last job,
why should we trust him now?

From the story:

"That (VITA) contract was signed in November 2005. McDonnell took over as attorney general in January 2006. While serving in that office, McDonnell was responsible for vetting the 151-page contract, 51 changes to it, while providing legal advice to VITA."

Decisions made about the contract "cost the taxpayers a lot of money," House Majority Leader H. Morgan Griffith (R-Salem) said. "In these economic times, we don't have $30 to $40 million to be spending because a giant multinational corporation made mistakes.

...But the report shows that the troubled contract has led to years of finger-pointing, the firing of employees, violations of the state's open meetings law and crucial decisions made by only a few people.

You mindless idiots keep repeating the Mantra that Mark Warner was such a great governor. VITA was ALL his and his Lt Governor's baby, and now it is costing Virginia billions. Sorry to inform you, but the buck stops with Warner and Kaine.

Not so John Doe, the AG is supposed to act as VA's attorney to protect the state's interests.
"McDonnell was responsible for vetting the 151-page contract, 51 changes to it, while providing legal advice to VITA."
That puts this directly at McDonnell's feet. This you cannot deny.
McDonnell would be fired from any private company for doing such a poor job of protecting the company's interests in contract review and negotiation.

Warner wasn't involved in the Northrop Grumman contract, and in fact has criticized VITA's oversight board for its secrecy in negotiating and awarding the contract.

A contract reviewed and approved by Virginia's top lawyer - Bob McDonnell.

You have to understand government before you play on this field Doeboy. Hit the shower.

Who cares. Bob McDonnell is a godly man and will bring Virginia into compliance with the Bible.

Yet if Virginia wants to bail on the contract, it could cost taxpayers up to $400 million.

It's a dismayingly large cancellation fee but hardly surprising. Now that fresh eyes have looked at the contract, it is clear how much it favors the company.

Among its shortcomings, the contract spells out 74 milestones the company is supposed to meet. Only 14 carry penalties for missing them. The company could come in years late on the others and still be paid.

Looks like ol' Bob rendered onto Caesar!

Things are about to get interesting for Mr. McDonnell it seems.

Rockdem,
I think that it is time to block this anon douche bag. At first his opinions were viewed as a conservative voice who wanted to contribute to the conversation. But more and more it is obvious from his comments that he/she is a paid GOP hack whose job it is to disrupt intelligent discourse. His latest comment "Who cares. Bob McDonnell is a godly man and will bring Virginia into compliance with the Bible" is a classic example. It has nothing to do with the thread, adds absolutely nothing to the conversation and was designed to do one thing only, that is to distract from the veracity and conversation of your post. He/she really does degrade the integrity of your site.

Roger D you are a idiot if you think that only one person makes anonymous comments on here. You must not be much of a free thinker.

Roger D, you mind-numbed moron! "Intelligent discourse" here? This blog is nothing but a bunch of partisan hacks repeating DNC propaganda. I'm not sticking up for anon, he destroys you feeble minded chumps easily enough himself. I'm just sayin, look who is calling whom a "hack."

And Stephen D., this from the Times Dispatch:

"That contract was signed in November 2005. McDonnell took over as attorney general in January 2006. While serving in that office, McDonnell was responsible for vetting the 151-page contract, 51 changes to it, while providing legal advice to VITA."

To me this paragraph makes no sense: It claims that the contract was signed in 05, McDonnell was not AG until 06, but he still was responsible for vetting the contract. Wouldn't whoever was responsible for vetting it do the vetting BEFORE the contract was signed? I'm not saying the article or you are incorrect, just saying that it does not seem to make sense. (See how a NON-political hack retains a semblance of open-mindedness?)

An "interim contract" with Northrop Grumman was awarded by the Commonwealth of Virginia for $3.5 million in November of 2005. The final 10 year contract, worth $2 Billion was awarded the following July after being reviewed by the new General Assembly and Virginia's top lawyer, Bob McDonnell, the new Attorney General.

Hope that helps.

Cite your source, Pedo Breath. The only thing that I would trust your word on is where is the nearest junior high or elementary school. You have those memorized and input into your GPS just in case. Can never be too far from prepubescent school boys, can you?

Do your own homework cupcake. On the other hand, I'll send $100 to the Larry Craig/Mark Foley Legal Defense Fund (in your name) if you can prove me wrong. Your move sweetie!

I'll give $1,000 to the John Wayne Gacy legal defense fund if you can PROVE that you aren't a pedophile, Bubby. Isn't it self-evident that you prefer pre-pubescent boys, just by your very posts?

What is obvious Mr. Doe is that this is something which occupies your imagination almost exclusively.
I hope that you've been identified and are allowed no where near children.
