I am so tired of the direction Republicans have taken on issue after issue. Now the party's presidential candidate is being shown over and over to be simply a fourth down desperation play decision maker. He's not a maverick, not in any good sense of the term, instead he makes me think of a compulsive gambler, which by many accounts he reportedly is. His pick for vice president was one of the most important decisions he will ever make, especially given his age and his health issues, and he ran a fourth and long hail Mary play by choosing Sarah Palin. His choice, his cynical willingness to gamble away the future of the nation, is the final straw for me. All anyone has to do is watch the Couric/Palin interview to understand just how bad a gamble this was. The Republican party's vice presidential candidate is so obviously deficient for the task that it makes me despair at the thought of McCaine/Palin winning in November. Now we even have conservative commentators and pundits calling for her to be taken off the ticket. When we had such candidates as Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney to choose from, this choice has thrown John McCain's ability to make sound judgment into serious question for many, and out the window for me.

You are right, there were any number of QUALIFIED people McCain had to choose from.
If he had chosen Ron Paul this race would be over.
John McCain is no longer even a good shadow of the man he once was.
As a good southern republican who actually watched these videos, I think that it is obvious what Sarah Palin is good for. Moving into the man's world of politics is not being a good christian wife. She needs to get back to the kitchen, take care of her children like the Bible says,and most importantly, use her physical gifts not to entice votes, but to take care of her man. She's shameful.
About a week ago I had thought about this enough and went into my yard on High Street in Harrisonburg, pulled my McCain sign out, threw it into the trash, drove down the street to the Democratic office and got the last available "Yes We Can Shenandoah Valley" sign and planted it in front of my home.
The GOP has left me too!
Governor Palin makes perfect sense to me! You people are just jealous because she's so smart and pretty. Besides, she hates gays, she is pro life and she believes God wants us to fight Islam in the Holy Land (hint: she's sent her own son to help do God's work in killing Muslims), she is pro gun, and against abortion for any reason including rape and incest because she knows that if a baby is conceived at all that it is an act of God.
Palin makes perfect sense to me too! She's for her daughter's CHOICE to carry her baby, she expects PRIVACY during this national campaign with regards to her unmarried teenage daughter's pregnancy, and she's basking in the glow of her "CELEBRITY" status. She's nailed Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric in her recent interviews by sticking to the straight party line and cleverly avoiding any of the traps set by those elitist left wing media hosts and she's come out strongly against "witchcraft of all kinds." She's the perfect "eye candy" to take the attention away from Senator McCain's age and health and has proved McCain's incredible political good sense to have added her to the ticket. As a real bonus, she even has more EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE than John McCain! Yup! It makes perfect sense to me too!

Probably ruin it. But who knows? It might be just the desperation play that would save the game.
