Pork Capitol of the United States of America

Alaska Leads Nation in Per Capita Federal Assistance

Fiscal year 2008 was the first year for which there was a complete listing of all earmarks contained in all appropriation bills. That information was loaded into several databases, including the one developed by Taxpayers for Common Sense.

According to that data, the average state got about $50 per person in earmarked funds in 2008.

Alaska got $506 per person, about 10 times the national average. Wasilla between 2000 and 2003 (While Sarah Palin was Mayor) was getting well over $1,000 per person, twice the Alaska state average in 2008.

This isn't the kind of change we need in Washington...

Well Golly Jeepers Whiz! If that ain't the Christian Conservative way of doin' business, I don't know what would be. That would make Candidate Palin the Earmark Queen now wouldn't it? While at the same time sayin' she wants to do away with earmarks.

This is exactly what is killing the republican party. Lies and hypocrisy. Say anything to get elected, truth be damned. So, who's she lying to the most? If she fights earmarks, she's betraying the people in Alaska, if she doesn't, she's betraying the people who support her for vice president, and probably president given the health issues of McCain.
She is way over her head.

No wonder the radio guys are getting more strident this past week. McCain doesn't seem to be looking so well, seriously. I'm not talking about poll numbers, he just doesn't look like he's feeling well.

Of course, the Most Corrupt Sen. Ted Stevens had a lot to do with this ignominious distinction. But it is a culture of corruption that the republicans have...can anyone say Tom DeLay and the K Street project?

A Point a Day, Keeps the TheoCONS Away!!

You libs are morons.. Sarah Palin can't technically get earmarks from Washington herself, that falls on their House and Senate representation. Besides that, there is a difference between earmarks and appropriations...earmakrs are added to bills that have nothing to do with appropriations.

If ignorance is bliss, my guess is you guys are very happy...

Then she's lying when she states that she said "no thanks"?
And didn't she hire a lobbyist to go after, um what? Federal money? Tacked onto legislation? McCain was even on record being critical of the earmarks for Wassila.
Can't have it both ways big fella.
